An enlightening and engaging few days were spent at Villa Park, home of Aston Villa Football Club, attending the Major Events International Summit. This year we sponsored pre-dinner drinks, much to the surprise of Joe, when at the introduction to his speech it was announced “drinks were on him”! Once realisation kicked in, the evening resulted in a great opportunity to meet new faces and catch up with old friends and acquaintances.

Invitations were extended to Major Events International Members, Partners, VIPs and prospective members of the network. Bringing together leading Major Events Suppliers, Organising Committees, Venue Operators and Governing Bodies for 2 full days of detailed engagement. ​

Present at the Summit were a number of panels of influential decision makers and power brokers from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham City Council, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Lima 2019 and Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Rugby League World Cup  2021 and various Multi Sport Games who shared their knowledge with suppliers and sports business entrepreneurs.

Throughout the Summit we participated in industry led workshops, with Joe leading a Safety and Security Workshop discussing “how best to alert buyers to company capabilities” and then feeding back to the Summit.

We are now looking forward to building on the relationships we made and continue to develop our engagement with fellow delegates.
