    Hazards:

    Weather Conditions

    Lone Working

    Working environment

    Weather Condition Risks:

    Hypothermia

    Frostbite

    Sunburn

    Heat Exhaustion

    Ill health

    Lone Working Risks:

    Injury

    Inability to call for help

    Animal attacks

    Violence or Abuse

    Injury caused by equipment being used

    Working Environment Risks:

    Impact with motor vehicle

    Drowning

    Ill health due to submersion in water

    Weils Disease

    Insect Bites

    Employee Responsibilities:

    Ensure you wear the PPE provided

    Take your personal safety into consideration at all times

    Use a buddy system, where possible, to reduce lone working

    Keep regular communication with colleague and employers

    Do not partake in horseplay or acts of behaviour that could put you at unnecessary risk

    Take regular breaks in hot and cold weather conditions

    Make sure warm or cold refreshments are available

    Working in the sun:

    Keep your top on (ordinary clothing made from close woven fabric, such as long sleeved workshirt and jeans stops most UV)

    Wear a hat with a brim or a flap that covers the ears and the back of the neck

    Stay in the shade whenever possible, during your breaks and especially at lunch time

    Use a high factor sunscreen of at least SPF15 on any exposed skin

    Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration

    Check your skin regularly for any unusual moles or spots. See a doctor promptly if you find anything that is changing in shape, size or colour, itching or bleeding

    Working near water:

    Buddy system

    Personal floatation devices (PFD’s)

    Carry a means to summon help i.e. Mobile phone

    Don’t put yourself at unnecessary risk

    Don’t over reach, try using another piece of equipment

    If in doubt, speak to your line manager

    Let management know if you are not comfortable with working in or near to water
